They seem very scarce in Montgomery County this season... On a side note, we had a very nicely plumaged LINCOLN'S SPARROW at Black Hill Regional Park late this morning. David Farner and I led the ANS Youth Group Birdathon in Montgomery and Frederick Counties today, and while we did get very wet at times, we managed a respectable 85 species total for both counties; 65 in Montgomery, 55 in Frederick, with 20 new species picked up mostly at Lilypons and/or Nolans Ferry. We thought of changing the name of the group from "The Ospreys" to the Thunderbirds... Other highlights included a very orange Yellow-breasted Chat (so orange it looked like a Baltimore Oriole!) at Hughes Hollow, a WILSON'S WARBLER at Black Hill, and a calling LEAST BITTERN at Hughes Hollow. A few more minutes here would almost certainly have produced an American Bittern, but heavy lightning and rain drove us away, and off the Black Hill.
