I think this is the largest number I've seen at any one time in DC, though last May (the 18th specifically), under similar weather conditions, I saw a mixed flock of Common and Black Terns. I think they're annual, but will fly very high and out of sight unless the weather brings them down. Way to go on the Black-billed Cuckoo. This (Sunday, 5/11) morning, I went to Kenilworth Park, hoping that the wet fields would attract a rarity. Nothing out of the ordinary, but birds of note include: 3 GREAT EGRETS (at KAG and overhead), 3 GREEN HERONS (same), 1 (poss. 2) MARSH WRENS (KAG), 1 GRASSHOPPER SPARROW (only vocalized once, I'm not convinced he's on territory, at least not yet), 1 COOPER'S HAWK (seen twice), lots (c.60) BOBOLINKS in loose flocks.
