I spent about 90 minutes doing a quick tour of the Nature Center, Maintenance Yard and Dog Run. The windy conditions seemed to make the warblers hide in the foliage a little more than usual. A Least Flycatcher was calling early on at the Nature Center, though I couldn't see it. I came across another empid later on at the Dog Run which I think was a Least - quite small-billed, very distinct eye ring and wing bars, olive washed back with a browny-greyer head and a fairly distinct white throat. However, it didn't call. At least one Lincoln's Sparrow is still at the Maintenance Yard. No particularly unusual warblers though there was a male Wilson's singing at the Dog Run. Still Yellow-rumps around but Blackpolls the most often-heard song; good numbers of Canada and Tennessee also present. Lots of Swainson's thrushes, but I was unable to find a Grey-cheeked. Rick Sussman earlier commented on the higher than usual numbers of birds such as Lincoln's Sparrows and Olive-sided Flycatchers - I think this was also true of last spring when we also had some fairly strong westerly winds.
