Lots of birds down low, eye or knee-level, even Blackpolls! A tremendous movement of Cedar Waxwings very early -- hundreds of them -- as well as good numbers (again, or rather, still) of Wilsonia warblers. Thrush numbers still seem low, however, as do flycatchers. Folks who did the maintenance yard first thing also reported an excellent morning with pretty much the same species. Birds seen and heard in the usual areas (ridge, Nature center, maintenance yard and Military field) include: Warblers: Black-and White (5), Blackpoll (20+), Bay-breasted (3), Blackburnian (4), Black-throated Blue (25), Black-throated Green (10), Canada (7), Chestnut-sided (8), Magnolia (15), Myrtle (~80), Nashville (1), Northern Waterthrush (1), Ovenbird (6), Parula (12), Redstart (14), Tennessee (1), Wilson's (3), Wormeating (1), Yellow (1), Yellowthroat (20+). (20 spp.) Others: Yellow-billed Cuckoo (6), Baltimore Oriole (6), Scarlet Tanager (15), Red-eyed Vireo (35), White-eyed Vireo (1), Rose-breasted Grosbeak (1), Swainson's Thrush (3), Cedar Waxwing (250-300), Wood Pewee (3), Great Crested Flycatcher (3), Least Flycatcher (1, dog run), Empid sp. (2), Lincoln's Sparrow (1), Swamp Sparrow (1).
