Dear Birders:

RE: A Spring Pelagic Birding Trip, from Lewes, Delaware

There are a few places still available on the upcoming all-day pelagic
birding trip scheduled, onboard the "Skipjack", to waters offshore from
Delaware and Maryland, on:
Saturday, May 31.
Departure will be at 4am, to be offshore in the morning, and the return by 4pm.

In recent years, birds that have been seen in late May/early June during
FONT pelagic trips from Lewes have included: Common Loon, Northern Gannet,
Cory's Shearwater, Greater Shearwater, Sooty Shearwater, Manx Shearwater,
Wilson's Storm-Petrel, Leach's Storm-Petrel, Pomarine Jaeger, South Polar
Skua, Lesser black-backed Gull, and various terns.

The price for the Lewes pelagic trip is $110 per person. Space is limited
to 20 participants.

In the recent 2001 issue of the "Delmarva Ornithologist" (the annual
journal of the DOS, the Delmarva Ornithological Society), there was an
article by Andrew Ednie regarding pelagic birds that were seen off the
coast of Delaware & Maryland in 2000.
That was a good year, with South Polar Skua, Long-tailed Jaeger, numerous
Bridled Terns, and other oceanic species.
Most of this article can be read in the FONT web-site (www.focusonnature.com).
Go to the link to "Pelagic Bulletins" on the left-hand side of the home page.

We're hoping for this year to be a good one offshore from Delaware &
Maryland. Hope you join us, on either Saturday, May 31 or Saturday, August
30, out of Lewes DE.
