Lots of thrushes around this morning including 4, possibly 5, Gray-cheeked. 2 (or 3) were in the woods close to the Maintenance Yard, the other 2 in the woods at the Dog Run. On the ones that I saw well enough, no hint of Bicknell's features. One bird sang several times. This species seems to sing less on migration than Swainson's, and I only ever hear them very early on, within 1/2 hr after first light. A lot of Swainson's around, and Veeries and Wood Thrush also singing. I must admit that much as I like the warblers, the Catharus thrushes are probably my favorite migrants, so this was a good morning. Warbler variety, at least where I was, down to 15 species - singing Wilson's and Northern Waterthrush at the Dog Run, still small flocks of Myrtle, and Blackpoll now easily the most common singing warbler. There was also a Swamp Sparrow at the Maintenance Yard, which seemed a little late. Regards Clive Harris Cabin John, Md --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!? The New Yahoo!
