However, there was plenty of interest around, highlighted by the CATTLE EGRET in Anacostia Park (AP), first seen early this morning by Paul Pisano, who thoughtfully called to alert me. Besides Anacostia Park, I visited Kenilworth Park (KP), Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens (KAG) and Hains Point (HP). Some other birds worth noting: OSPREY - 1 flying around and 1 on nest, south end of S. Capitol St. bridge SPOTTED SANDPIPER - 1 on the road in AP and at least 10 in KAG SOLITARY SANDPIPER - 2 on wet fields in KP and 2 at KAG WILLOW FLYCATCHER - 1 singing in the wetlands part of AP BLUE GROSBEAK -- a male singing in KP BOBOLINK -- a dozen (all but 2 were females) in the no-mow area of KP BANK SWALLOW -- 2 in with Tree, Rough-winged and Barn Swallows in KAG SCARLET TANAGER -- 1 in KP and 1 (orange-variant) along the River Trail in KAG OVENBIRD -- 1 on River Trail in KAG BLACK-AND-WHITE WARBLER - 1 feeding in a bald cypress at Hains Point, accompanied by a mess of Yellow-rumped and Blackpoll Warblers ORCHARD ORIOLE -- 4 different singing males in AP Good "springtime" Birding!
