I finally made the switch to "Wellies" (Wellington boots) that it seemed like everyone in the UK wore. I now love them -- I do not find them unconfortable to walk in or too hot (although no hot weather so far). The Wellies to look for are the rubber, knee-length version. They can be insulated, but I suspect you don't want insulation in the summer. They seem designed to be worn with thick socks. I have very wide (EEE) feet and did not have any problem with the "standard" sizes although the sales person said the model I bought "tended to run wide." Bass Pro is a source although there are several. I got mine through Cabela's in person but they can be ordered on-line.
