McElroy, Jr., 1974 (Borzoi books, pub. by A. Knopf). I have an original hardcover copy, but I have seen it in paperback, I think recently re-issued. It is also still available in used bookstores. It was one of my first bird books which treated birds according to their habitats, and was very useful to me in my earlier days. I still like to pick it up and re-read certain chapters.
