Subject: C&O near Great Falls MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable The towpath was pretty birdy Saturday afternoon between mileposts 14 & = 17, especially for flycatchers. The highlight was a large number of = common nighthawks feeding over the river for much of that stretch. Question: For the past few weeks, there have been large numbers of = goslings along the canal around Great Falls. Yesterday we saw only one = family (3 babies). We did, however, see an unusually large number of = great blues. Are the herons taking the goslings - or have they all = grown up very quickly?
