I especially enjoy finding cavity nests; the peak time (in Howard County, anyway) is the next 2 weeks. Yesterday, I discovered a dead pine snag with 2 cavity nests -- Carolina Chickadee and Downy Woodpecker. The nests are 5' apart, with adults of both species bringing food every minute or two (no signs of friction). This snag is in the west end of Centennial Park, 20' east of a paved trail that runs from the intersection of Route 108 and Centennial Lane down to the lake.
