NT I am told vy Patuxent North Tract staff that several people have come onto the refuge in search of the orange Scarlet Tanager I reported last week. The bird was still present at 3:50 this afternoon. I heard, then found the bird along the Wildlife Loop at the fenced compound beyond the 2nd access to the Green Trail, a few yard beyond where it was singing last week. Other birds of note: Yellow-breasted Chat - at the end of the loop in the Wildlife Viewing Area Hooded Warbler - Along Wildlife Loop in wooded area beyond Area L sign Yellow-throated Vireo - signing along power line Baltimore Oriole - WIldlife Loop opposite Range 10 Osprey - At Cattail Pond. All visitors must check in at the Visitor Contact Station. The Refuge normally opens at 8:00 a.m., BUT will not open until noon on Thursday, June 5.
