So before I can serve any House Sparrow a l'orange with latkes and maybe a nice piece of pound cake I'd actually have to *breed* the bastards in a coop, have them slaughtered by a kosher butcher, and salt them to draw out all the blood. This of course, would negate the wonderous idea of exterminating them on this continent by using them as a delicacy -- at least by observant Jews anyway. Alas. It also explains why hunting has never been a popular activity among Jews -- what's the point of shooting some pretty duck or deer if you aren't allowed to eat it afterwards?
