The main highlight was an Arctic Tern in Maryland waters, a state bird for all but the most rabid Maryland state listers. One Fin Whale and one Ocean Sunfish were also seen very well. We had one very interesting tern in Delaware waters that appeared to have a wing pattern consistent with Arctic Tern, but a head and bill closer to Common. We have reviewed the photos and do not feel that this bird is identifiable as an Arctic, so we are officially listing it as a "Commic" Tern, i.e. either Common or Arctic. I'd like to thank our top-notch leaders, and the very helpful and professional crew of the Thelma Dale IV. The results of the trip are as follows: SPECIES DE MD TOTAL ---------------------- ---- ---- ----- Northern Gannet 2 1 3 Sooty Shearwater 2 17 19 Greater Shearwater - 4 4 Wilson's Storm-Petrel 31 75 106 Common Tern 5 - 5 Arctic Tern - 1 1 "Commic" Tern - 1 1 Royal Tern 6 - 6 Laughing Gull 3 12 15 Great Blk-backed Gull - 3 3 Fin Whale 2 - 2 Ocean Sunfish - 2 2 We will be running another trip on August 16 out of Lewes, DE. This trip is already 1/3 sold. Please check out our web site or call us for more information if you are interested. -Paul -- Paul A. Guris See Life Paulagics P.O.
