MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Hello I walked by a small tree in front of some of the new apartments near the Columbia library at about 8:45am while on my way to work Saturday. I heard some wings flapping in the leaves of that tree and expected to see a bird fly away. But that did not happen, I just heard the wings continue to flap, and I walked up to the tree to see what's going on. I saw an American Robin hanging from a branch, one leg caught in something. I was wondering, 'That couldn't be spider web, could it?' But I looked closer and saw that it was tied up by some string. The Robin started flapping wildly and 'squawking' while it was in my hands as I ripped the string from the branch and then removed most of it from it's toes. I then placed it gently on the sidewalk, and hoped that that it was unharmed and just would fly away. But that did not happen, it just stayed where I layed it. I wanted to stay and keep an eye on it, but I had to get to work. What do you think happened there? Did the Robin just get caught in the string, or did someone do that to the bird?
