It was found in only 13 atlas blocks there. However, there have been breeding records from the higher mountains of Virginia and West Virginia. Acadian Flycatcher does a variety of calls during the breeding season that resemble some of the other Empidonax. Try to track down the sound again and see what is making the noise is the best advice I can offer. Get a recording if you can. A video camera is good for this even if you can't get a visual of the bird. Maybe Bob Ringer has some more recent data than 1996. ======================================================================= To leave the MDOsprey list, send e-mail to listserv@home.ease.lsoft.com with the following message in line 1: signoff mdosprey ======================================================================= =========================================================================
