Getting to today's stream involves a foolish hike down the side of a mountain on a trail that used to be there, but never was much good and now is so hard to follow I lost it three times going down this AM. No rational person would ever make this trek. Thank goodness flyfishermen aren't rational. ;-) At any rate, I encountered three separate and distinct singing winter wrens while I was trying to find my way down there. I know this bird is not real common even in Garrett. I have encountered singing winter wrens in this area before, but I think they seem to be more abundant than before. Would whoever is in charge of Garrett county's atlas assignments email me so I can try to pinpoint the block this might be in? Perhaps Walter Ellison would know.
