McHenry - Western Kingbird Update (06-26) MIME-version: 1.0 Content-type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII Content-transfer-encoding: 7BIT Last year during the Western Kingbird's visit at Ft. McHenry Jim and I saw it make several attempts to collect nesting material while jousting with a male Eastern Kingbird. The two Eastern Kingbirds nested successfully. Yesterday I talked with Jim Peters and the Western Kingbird has been sitting in the same place for nearly a week. Within five feet of his perch is a Eastern Kingbird on a nest. I'll post a message when the young hatch; and if the WK is helping to feed the young. Jim is (as always) keeping an eye on the situation. I wonder who the kids will look like?
