Ever since the atlas project started, I have had in mind filling a gap in all the field guides which would be very useful to atlasers - a depiction of FLEDGLINGS of certain species. Yes, some guides portray immatures, and there are guides for eggs and nestlings, but not this intermediate stage which the atlaser often encounters and which serves as breeding confirmation. I was struck, e.g., by the vastly different appearance of a YBCH fledgling I encountered from the adult. So I would like somehow to access the collection so as to sketch some of these species at that age, and put it out for the benefit of atlasers. Of course I would have to demonstrate a need to the Smithsonian authorities, but I don't even know where to begin. A contact person is all I'm really asking for. Can you help?
