Highlights were: Centreville NW - three different Scarlet Tanager territories, two for Kentucky Warbler, and one for Yellow-billed Cuckoo. Found Red-shouldered Hawks feeding fledglings. Kent Island NE - found a small Great Blue Heron rookery at the mouth of Piney Creek. There was one fledgling still in a nest. Also encountered my first Brown-headed Nuthatch in this block - just Possible for now. While they are certainly prevalent at Horsehead, the site where I found this one is further northwest, and across the dreaded Rt 50. Habitat's right for BHNU, so I have been expecting to find them there. The latter block also has lots of Eastern Meadowlarks, Grasshoppers Sparrows, and Bobwhites on territory (saw two this morning, and heard two others), but I'm still working on the Confirmation.
