This is a few miles northwest of Greensboro, on E. Cherry Lane just west of its intersection with Cedar Lane. DeLorme page 51, B-4. We had two singing Dickcissels in the same field Walter did. Both were singing from perches so low we could not see them, but we could hear them fine. Also along E. Cherry Lane west to its intersection with River Rd., we had at least 4 singing Grasshopper Sparrows, 2 singing Savannah Sparrows, a silent Blue Grosbeak, a singing Orchard Oriole, 2 different Yellow-breasted Chats, and an audible Northern Bobwhite (big thrill for us, since they have all but disappeared from Montgomery County). Of the species observed by Walter et al., we failed to note Vesper Sparrow or Horned Lark. On the other hand, we did not linger for long, wishing to reach the beach before the rain started in earnest. We did not have the time to check the area -- still in Caroline County but well to the south -- where Glen Lovelace found 3 Dickcissels a couple of days ago. Good birding.
