MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit On July 6 I checked on the Great Egrets in the Great Blue Heron colony on the island opposite mile marker 59, C. and O. Canal. One adult was feeding a rather large young bird. The foliage is very heavy now, so only a few heron nests can be seen, The egrets can be seen only if they stand, or if the tree sways just the right way. I have not done a search of Maryland Birdlife, but I don't know of any breeding records for this far west on the Potomac. No Great blue Heron colony was here during the last atlas. There are also adult Double-crests around.
