I had never been there before yesterday, but after the posts from earlier in the week, I decided to give it a try. To get there I took Route 50 over the bay bridge. At the split, I took 301 North. After about 10 miles (approximately) I went right onto MD 304. Stay on MD 304 through Ruthsburg, past MD 405, and into Caroline County. Once in Caroline County, make a right onto MD 312 (south). After about 1 mile, Cherry Lane will be on the left. Stay on Cherry Lane for about 2 miles. You will go past Day Road and River Road. At this point, I think that it becomes East Cherry Lane. After you cross over a creek, there will be a hay field south of the road. Where I got my best looks at the Dickcissel was right at the sign indicating that a stop sign is ahead (a yellow sign with a small stop sign and an arrow). This is a couple hundred feet before the intersection with Cedar Lane. (DeLorme 51 B-5). I stood by the sign and could hear the Dickcissel non- stop, and saw the bird several times in the hayfield. Many other birds were singing and calling too. I hope this helps. I believe that Walter Ellison had a post last week with very specific details as well. I used his post, plus my Delorme map to find the field. (Its only 55 minutes from my house!)
