The "Atlas of Breeding Birds of Maryland and the District of Columbia" mentions nothing about this. An apparent drop in abundance might be due to a decreased rate of vocalization during early summer. But I do not know if actual bluejay abundance drops in early summer or not. Before I respond to this individual I thought I would ask the list for thoughts. Thanks for any input on the matter. I did hear a bluejay-like call in Arlington this morning, but for all I know it could have been a mockingbird. Mark W. Miller Laurel, Maryland P.S. If large numbers of bluejays do leave the D.C. area in early summer I wonder why they do it and where they go? __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? SBC Yahoo!
