GS BUMED" Subject: Roosevelt Island, DC MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" Roosevelt Island, Wash, DC, 9 Jul 03, 1200-1300: A tad warm on RI today. Avi-activity was at a lull except for the Barn Swallows nesting under the footbridge. The Potomac was at low flow with banks and mud bars exposed. The only birds hanging out at the bars were a tired looking flock of Canada Geese and a lone Killdeer. The vegetation along the trails is overgrown from of all the rain, with Poison Ivy in abundance. Twenty-three species observed on/around the island to include the following of note: a foraging Prothonotary Warbler, a pair of Blue-gray Gnatcatchers feeding nestlings and an American Kestrel soaring overhead. As for snakes...well, never mind.
