I was thinking it was due to the crazy weather we've had this spring and summer. I just this morning observed a Ruby-throated Hummingbird gathering fluff from a cattail. It flew off so quickly I could not follow it to a nest site. I waited around for awhile to see if it would come back for more, but it didn't before I left.
