What I want is a field guide to the many kinds found in my HOUSE; I don't think "bathtub spider" is a real species name. Like Rick and Steve, I am a snake-lover and recovering (?) spider-phobe who understands that they're on "our" side. Now I ignore the smallest spiders in the house, tell the mid-size ones that I'm going to close my eyes and count to ten (they usually take the hint and scram), and evict only the largest ones (e.g., the 3-inch wolf spider in the hall outside the bedroom door). If only there were a way to examine spiders in detail without actually being near them, if you know what I mean. Perhaps some really, really, really close-focus binoculars...
