We were walking down a road in Rio Bentsen (spelling?) State Park one night on a jaunt down to the river, and we had a spotlight with us. As we walked down the road, dodging collared peccaries and the occasional spooked Paraque, you could see the eye shine from dozens of spiders. Upon closer examination, most were of the large "bird spider" variety (hmmmm.....how about starting a thread on spiders eating birds?) but even the little jumping spiders, with their large "headlight" eyes, could be seen from about 50 yards out!!! The night was cool, and this made the arachnids quite lethargic. So, Rick, try this at night, and don't get bitten. (Oops!! Sorry norm I thought this was the "bug list" heh heh.) *************************** Frank "Spider" Boyle Laurel, MD ravenfrank@earthlink.net *************************** -----Original Message----- From: Maryland Birds & Birding [mailto:MDOSPREY@HOME.EASE.LSOFT.COM] On Behalf Of Rick Sussman Sent: Thursday, July 10, 2003 7:13 PM To: MDOSPREY@HOME.EASE.LSOFT.COM Subject: Re: [MDOSPREY] spiders, was Snakes vs. Birds?
