And no I am not talking about Pewee Herman ;) It seems that an Eastern Wood Pewee has taking up nesting in a dogwood tree that is directly above where my wife parks her car in our drivway. For two weeks she has been saying that she has been attacked by a bird when she walks to her car. As time progressd the attacks were becoming more and more common (and closer). On Tuesday I experienced the arial assult and noted the culprit. After a little searching my wife found the nest just ten feet above her car. We have been watching the female on the nest which appearently has eggs in it. We can hear the male singing nearby. Ironically I found an identical nest on the ground (blown out of a tree) in another part of the yard. This little bird is causing quite a bit of havock. It is getting braver and braver as it now becomes agitated almost as soon as we open our front door. and it's swoops are getting closer and closer and more numerous. Has anybody else ever experinced such an agressive asult from a pewee before? It is quite intimidating. So much so that we are going to have to start parking in the yard to avoid being blinded and scarred by the bird. I have never met such a pissed off bird before.
