Fallon" Subject: Black-billed Cuckoo in PG MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Sunday morning (July 20th)there was a Black-billed Cuckoo seen and heard at the 4-H Center on Queen Anne Rd, calling repeatedly. Curiously, this is the same Atlas block where one was heard last year, about 2 miles distant (but at a location inaccessable this year). And the year before the Atlas, one was seen just across the block boundary, about 1 mile from the latter place. Moreover, the first Atlas recorded a BBCU "present" in the same block (quarter-block not given). I wonder if the recent sightings are of the same bird, re-locating slightly each year; or if the bird yesterday was a post-breeding wanderer (it was the last day of safe period), or if maybe there is a small population in the area.
