A freind of mine who is a non-birder but an avid Decoy collector called me from his work in Camden, NJ yesterday the 24th. He stated that he was watching a wierd duck swimming around the Delaware River close to shore. He described it as a small loon-like bird with a white cheek that was constantly diving. I figured that it was a Red-necked Grebe but knew this was WAY out of range. Later I showed him a picture of a RNGR and he confirmed it was a RNGR in fresh alternate plumage. Do you suppose that this bird was injured durring migration and never made it out of the area this spring? I thought it waS a pretty remarkable discovery. -your thoughts (OFF LINE) would be appreciated. Good Birding, Chris Starling North East, MD PS: IF anyone knows anyone in NJ or PA that would be interested in this report please forward it on! ======================================================================= To leave the MDOsprey list, send e-mail to listserv@home.ease.lsoft.com with the following message in line 1: signoff mdosprey ======================================================================= =========================================================================
