Not a bad day- 40 species. Highlight was a COMMON MOORHEN calling from the buttonwood swamp. For me it was also nice to see 4 robins-a rare species here in the summer. Still a fair amount of breeding activity. Heard the following species singing: E. Wood Pewee, Acadian Flycatcher, Red-eyed Vireo, Carolina Wren, House Wren, Wood Thrush, Northern Parula, Prairie Warbler, Prothonotary Warbler, Common Yellowthroat, Eastern Towhee, Field Sparrow, and Indigo Bunting. Also found a male prothonotary feeding fledglings. Signs of fall were the 31 rough-winged swallows on the wires (first migrants first seen on 6-30) and the 8 Mourning Doves also on the wires.
