Date: Sat, 2 Aug 2003 13:23:00 -0400 Reply-To: Maryland Birds & Birding Sender: Maryland Birds & Birding From: John Hubbell Subject: DC shorebirds, 8/2 Kingman Lake near RFK stadium had a nice group of shorebirds this morning just before the rising tide covered the mudflats -- 1 Short-billed Dowitcher, both yellowlegs, Least Sandpipers, Solitary Sandpipers, Spotted Sandpipers, and Killdeer -- as well as 3 Great Egrets. To access this area, I had to park at the Langston Golf Course driving range and walk across Benning Rd. since the RFK parking lot was closed. I also saw a few shorebirds at Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens -- Greater Yellowlegs, Solitary Sandpiper, Spotted Sandpiper, and Killdeer.
