Pretty quiet, but my interest was captured by an adult male Prothonotary Warbler feeding a juvenile back by the buttonbush swamp. First juvie I have ever seen. That's when I met up with Helen Patton, and shorthly after heard a clucking sound coming from the shrubs near the large impoundment on the left. We thought it was a SORA, which indeed it turned out to be. We headed back towards my van and the parking lot, where I recorded the Sora and Common Moorhen vocalizations onto my Digital Voice Recorder (a very handy device). We then headed back to the large impoundment where I played the recording, and got a response from a sora, and finally a second sora. They would only call, and did not show themselves, staying hidden among the water foliage. On our way back to look and listen for C. Moorhen (which we did not see or hear), we had an adult male LEAST BITTERN fly over between the impoundments. And except for a hunter training his dog and much splashing in the water by the dog, it was fairly quiet. Lots and lots of Green Herons and G. Crested Flycatchers though.
