For a number of years we have had Fish Crows nesting in a pine tree in our yard. They are very, very quiet when nesting, just slipping in and out through the thick foliage at the back of the tree. Last year they never appeared and we feared the worst, having gotten used to the adults (and later, fledged young) sitting around and commenting "wah-HAH!" at anything we did. This year a pair reappeared and nested successfully, whether they were the original pair or one of the offspring, but they used the same tree (one of several suitable pines). We are glad they are back.
