Checked the wires along River Rd first, then the main impoundments, From here I walked east along Hunting Quarter Rd to the east parking lot, then south into the fields where I came back to the impoundments. There was less activity than the past few times I've been here but still ended up with 38 species. Highlights were a LEAST BITTERN calling in the large impoundment, a COMMON MOORHEN calling in the buttonwood swamp, and two immature Bald Eagles playing tag as they flew over the fields toward the river. Not much sign of migration- 28 rough-winged swallows (less numerous than previous years) on the wires and 4 Purple Martins circling high overhead which I never would have found if one hadn't been calling.
