Best find at Hughes Hollow was an immature OLIVE-SIDED FLYCATCHER, seen hawking large insects from a dead snag along the far woods bordering the left impoundment. It was fairly far off when I saw it, through my scope for perhaps 5 minutes, then it disappeared. I ran into Dave Czaplak shortly before I saw this bird (but after he left) and he said he also had one earlier in the AM along the canal near Blockhouse Point. A pair of Bald Eagles were perched in some snags bordering the buttonwood swamp but at the very far side of the woods, perhaps 1/4 mile distant. When I first noticed the dark shape in the far trees, I put my scope on it, and it was an adult eagle. Shortly it was joined by a juvenile bird, all dark. After they disappered an American Kestrel showed up very near where they were perched. A Sora called briefly twice from the left impoundment while I was there. Biggest surprise was the lack of other birders there (except for Dave). Though it was very hot, I would've thought there would be other birders there.
