Main purpose was to look for shorebirds, we stopped at just about every good looking field or wet area we drove by. Blue Grosbeaks were every where it seemed, blackbirds were flocking, and Laughing Gulls were plentiful out side of Beulah Landfill and on Indiantown Road in Dorchester. Highlights were obviously the unexpected bunch of Chestnut-collared Longspurs (mentioned in previous posts), also a winter plumaged Gull-billed Tern on Elliott's Island, and a Little Blue Heron just outside Bethlam, Caroline County. Spring Road/Oxford Road, Talbot Co., new inpoundments are being made. Killdeer 19 Pectoral Sandpiper 4 G. Killdeer7 Least Sandpiper 1 Little Blue heron 1 Pickering Creek and the inpoundments along Beaver Dam Road(in Dorchester) both had poor viewing conditions due to vegetation and the water was a bit high in both locations. Ducks, herons, and egrets were present at both. Grasshopper Sparrows were heard and seen at various locals in good numbers. Also large flocks of swallows were on the move, as well as smaller groups of Purple Martins.
