Subject: Surprise visit by a Winter Wren MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" As I was eating breakfast on our deck yesterday, enjoying the cool weather that had blown in, I was surprised to see a Winter Wren fly onto the deck rail about six feet in front of my nose. It stayed there perhaps 15 seconds jerking around and chortling at me before flying off (was it disturbed by my presence so close to the feeder or the fallen seed?). It was a very attractive and fresh-looking bird with rich brown coloration extending all the way down its chest and sides.
