I would do more than suggest the Grand -- it is a "grand" place to stay with easy access to the activities in the hotel, the show (roughly, across the street), and the display in the hotel itself. The dinners are well-cooked and a great place to meet new people and talk birding. Pete Dunn's story telling is always a high point. The only disappointments I have had are the shore birding trips but that is partly my lack of interest in looking for the one odd gull out of hundreds. I stick with the "land" trips, mostly, and tag along on the shore trips (often looking landward).
