When I was there I discovered two Am Avocets along the Patuxant River. This species is not listed on the refuge bird checklist so I reported it to the park personnel. They seemed quite excited about the sighting so I thought I'd report it to any Maryland birder who would be interested in this sighting. Would someone tell me if Avocets are rare in Maryland? I now they occur regularly in DE.
