My child who was 5.5 with the last batch will be 22.5 next spring; time for a bumper bug crop. While working in my garden, I am finding many pre-emergent cicadas, as many as four to seven in the top five inches of a sq ft of ground. I have been assuming they were the 17 yr group getting ready for next year. Seemed rather late for them to be this year's annual bugs. I would expect a feeding frenzy from all birds big enough to eat them.
