A. Green-winged Teal 4 N. Shovelor 1 (that I would have missed but Ray found it and called it to = my attention). Mallards (8 or 10) Osprey 1 Killdeer 14 Semipalmated Plover 2 Stilt Sandpiper 3 Lesser Yellowlegs 4 Solitary Sandpiper 2 Spotted Sandpiper 1 Pectoral Sandpiper 3 Semipalmated Sandpiper 1 Least Sandpiper 3 Friday 8/29 I birded Garrett County with limited success (thinking mostly = shorebirds). Most places have higher water levels than I would hope for = with respect to finding shorebirds. I hit Piney Reservoir, Meadows = Campground, Oakland WWTP, Pond behind the Get-N-Go convenience store, Pond = on Youghiougheny Road (Mtn. Lake Park)., Broadford Reservoir, Red Hill = Pond (totally vegetated), and Jennings Randolph Reservoir. The best birds = on Friday were 2 Blue-winged Teal at Oakland WWTP and a few Killdeer at = Meadows Lake. Since folks have asked me ... I decided to include directions to North = Branch (these would be suitable for inclusion on the MD Shorebirding = webpage which still indicates that directions are needed; Fran ... if you = are reading this ... :-). J.B. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Directions to North Branch (PPG. Ponds) From I-68 take Industrial Boulevard (Rt. 51) South for 5.6 miles (to PPG = Road) and turn right. Go 0.5 miles to River Road and turn left. Park in = the parking lot (0.2 miles) and walk down the paved road (0.3 miles) to = the gated area on the left (take the road and not the towpath). Shorebirds= are typically found in the first set of tarps but it is sometimes worth = checking the other tarps (the second group of tarps can often be seen from = the towpath through gaps in the trees). =3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D= =3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D John B.
