I missed the Merlin, but got a White-Eyed Vireo singing and hanging out with gorgeous freshly plumaged Chickadees along the road on the East Side near the mini-golf course. The surprise hit at Hains was an adult female Merlin in the dead tree at the southeast corner of the golf course (a traditional roosting tree for both Merlin and Peregrine in winter). Otherwise Hains was pretty quiet. We'll see what tomorrow brings.
