(on Kent Island) just to see what was around. Early a number of Bobolinks (about a dozen) and some Jays overhead, offshore lingering Ospreys and Caspian and Royal terns (among the usual gulls). The pond (in the fields near Rt. 50) held a good number of Wood Duck and a few Black Ducks, Least Sandpipers and a single juvenile Red Knot. Both egrets at the cove near the Bay Bridge. We hadn't seen too many migrants at this point (just numerous Yellowthroats, and a few Redstarts and Magnolia warblers) when we met up with Dave Perry and a friend who had been birding the loop in the opposite direction. They had run into a flock of warblers which had included a GOLDEN-WINGED! We continued on and eventually relocated the flock near where they had seen it, but despite quite a bit of flogging about in and around the various trails and mowed rides, and into the woods itself, we never re-found that bird. Dang! However, warblers there were, plus some other migrants. In a couple of hours we saw the following (all areas combined): Warblers: Blue-winged (1), Baybreasted (1), Blackpoll (1), Black-and-White (2), Blackburnian (5), Chestnut-sided (5), Magnolia (8), Redstart (~20), Parula (1), Yellowthroat (~30), Wilson's (1). 12 spp. including Dave's Golden-winged. Others: Warbling Vireo (1), Red-eyed Vireo (10), White-eyed Vireo (3), Orchard Oriole (1), Brown Thrasher (4), Bobolink (12), Blue Grosbeak (4), Ruby-throated Hummingbird (3), Pewee (1), Great Crested Flycatcher (1), WOODCOCK (1), Bobwhite (1), Red Knot (1), Least Sandpiper (3), Caspian tern (2), Royal Tern (1-2).
