An MOS trip to Meadowside Nature Center, Rockville, Montgomery County today (Saturday Sept 13) was attended by a small group (4+ leader), but we did manage a full 1/2 day trip and did even manage to see some nice migrants, despite the off and on rain. Though we tallied only 42 species, these included a nice juvie Sharp-shinned Hawk, 11 warbler species (Tennessee, N. Parula, A. Redstart, Chestnut-sided, Magnolia, Blackburnian, Black&White, C. Yellowthroat, Black-throated Green, Black-throated Blue male and female, and Prairie) seen in 2-3 small "pockets" of feeding activity, Scarlet Tanager, a couple of hummers, and lots of toads and a box turtle. With the rain and wet trails, it was a good day for toads.... Thanks to those who came out early in the rain and stayed through till the end...
