DC area: Thursday, Sept 19, 2003 around noon just before the winds of Isabel were really starting to pick up, I found a Caspian Tern hunkered down with a flock Laughing Gulls. On Friday afternoon, a high number of 11 Great Egrets were present in Kingman Lake portion between Heritage and Kingman Island. Also, seen flying were 4 Yellowlegs, and because of the high water, two were trying to perch on the wire fence along the wetlands restoration project in Kingman Lake. Flying overhead were 3 Forster's terns. In the RFK Stadium parking lot and among the puddles and adjoining grass, 14 Least Sandpipers and half dozen or so Killdeer. There are a lot of Laughing Gulls in the area. Last week I estimated at least a thousand in the parking lot next to the stadium. /Peter Vankevich pvank@netacc.net ======================================================================= To leave the MDOsprey list, send e-mail to listserv@home.ease.lsoft.com with the following message in line 1: signoff mdosprey ======================================================================= =========================================================================
