There was a surprising abundance of Scarlet Tanagers (~10) and Rose-breasted Grosbeaks (~5), and scads of Catbirds, Robins, Flickers, and Red-eyed Vireos. We had 11 species of warbler: Nashville Warbler - 1 Northern Parula - 1 Chestnut-sided Warbler - 1 Magnolia Warbler - ~5 Black-throated Blue Warbler - 2 Black-throated Green Warbler - 2+ Palm Warbler - 2, the first of the season Blackpoll Warbler - 1 Black-and-white Warbler - 1 American Redstart - 2+ Common Yellowthroat - 5+, We hoped for Broadwings, but the sky never cleared enough for that. So far this fall Cylburn has been considerably better than usual. The warblers are normally most abundant behind the mansion, especially around the Garden of the Senses. The evergreens near the perennial garden have also been productive as well as the top of the maintenance trail.
