I had to change my e-mail address as I was getting about 20 copies of the latest worm with every e-mail download. piwa@earthlink.net is the address I use for this list. So far, so good. Since I'm here, I will mention one bird and one butterfly. My immature male ruby-throat survived Isabel but seems to have departed on the 21st. On 9/19, after dragging all of my large flowerpots out of the house and back on to the deck, I noticed what I thought was a Long-tailed Skipper on some Lantana flowers. It turned out to be a Dorantes Longtail far from it's home range of Florida, southern Georgia and the Gulf Coast. Photos here: http://nestbox.com/dorantes.htm. It has been determined that it was not an escapee from the butterfly exhibit at Brookside Gardens in Wheaton but one cannot rule out a transported chrysalis on a nursery plant. Still.......finding it the day the hurricane ended could be evidence that it took a long ride.
