Anyway, as might have been expected, a very good morning at Rock Creek Park DC with NW winds, although numbers still not up to some previous autumns on goof fronts. Diversity however was very good... Warblers: Black-and-white (10), Black-throated Green (5), Blackburnian (5), Baybreasted (1), Blackpoll (4-5), Chestnut-sided (6), Magnolia (~15), Nashville (4), ORANGE-CROWNED (1), Parula (6), Prairie (1), Redstart (6), Tennessee (2), Yellowthroat (6-8)., NO Black-throated Blues, very odd... Others: Red-eyed Vireo (12), PHILADELPHIA VIREO (2 together), White-eyed Vireo (1), Rose-breasted Grosbeak (10), Scarlet Tanager (6), Baltimore Oriole (3), Ruby-crowned Kinglet (2), Phoebe (5), Wood-pewee (7), Veery (2), House Wren (8), Brown Thrasher (3), Swamp Sparrow (1), Ruby-throated Hummingbird (2), Broadwinged Hawk (1). The ridge (picnic areas 17/18) and the maintenance yard were lively, as was the area around the Nature Center. The dog run (Military Field) was dead save for the Orange-crowned. Also, on Monday (9/22) it was dead all over except for a Philadelphia Vireo/ Gail Mackiernan and Barry Cooper Colesville, MD ======================================================================= To leave the MDOsprey list, send e-mail to listserv@home.ease.lsoft.com with the following message in line 1: signoff mdosprey ======================================================================= =========================================================================
